Ans THE TEMPEST
-Shakespeare
Prospero and his daughter Miranda had been living in an isolated island for twelve years. Prospero raised a violent storm when he saw a ship sailing with his brother, Antonio and his enemy, the king of Naples. Miranda pleaded to her father to save the ship. Prospero assures her that nothing will happen to the people in the ship. He tells his daughter the story of his life at Milan and the misery he and his daughter experienced.
When Miranda was a child, Antonio plotted against the duke of Milan and carried them by ship and forced them into a small boat without tackle, sail or mast. A kind courtier named Gonzalo secretly placed water, food, clothing and some books.
Prospero charms Miranda to sleep and summons Ariel his servant spirit to bring reports about the storm. So Ariel narrated that Ferdinand was safe but his father was under the impression that he was dead. Prospero revives Miranda from sleep. Meanwhile, Ariel who is at work makes sure that Ferdinand, the prince of Naples meets Miranda. Miranda and Ferdinand fall in love. Prospero decides to test Ferdinand’s loyalty. He makes Ferdinand carry out laborious tasks. Miranda thinking that her father is at his study, tells Ferdinand to take a break. Prospero who has been on stage invisible to Ferdinand and Miranda is pleased to see them.
Ariel had made the king of Naples and Prospero’s brother Antonio miserable. They were hungry. After displaying delicacies, Ariel made the food disappear. It reminded them of their cruel treatment of Prospero. Both repented. On meeting Prospero, they sought his forgiveness. He readily forgave them. King of Naples was glad to see his son alive in the company of Miranda, the daughter of Prospero. Antonio gave back the dukedom to Prospero. Prospero set Ariel free. The team started for Milan in the ship happily.
